Al Ahmadiya School
A good example of Arabian architecture and now a museum on education. This was the first school in Dubai and started in 1912. Al Ahmadiya Street. (04 226 0286)

Bastakiya
The Bastakiya area is one of the main heritage areas in Dubai and dates back to the 1900's. A good place to see the traditional windtower houses built around courtyard houses which is the traditional method for air conditioning. A lot of the houses are now art galleries and small shops and the area is gradually being turned to a pedestrians area. Bur Dubai.

Dhow Wharfage
The traditional Dhow port with many hundreds of Dhows and plenty of activity. The dhows now travel to Iraq, Pakistan, Oman, India and Somalia. Baniyas Road.

Heritage House
Originally built in 1890 and enlarged by Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Dalmouk in 1910 and provides an insight into a traditional Emirati House with a large internal courtyard. The house is built from coral an gypsum and built around a central courtyard with all rooms looking into. Al Ahmadiya Street.

Heritage and Diving Village
A museum with weavers and potters showing how they have practiced their traditions over centuries housed in a number of traditional houses on the edge of the Creek. Al Shindagha.

Majlis Ghorfat um Al Sheef
A small house built in 1955 was used by Sheikh Rashid as a summer retreat and where many discussions took place about the future of Dubai. The building uses gypsum and coral rock and palm fronds on the roof. 17 Street, Jumeirah Road.

Umm Al Sheif Majlis
The summer resort of the late Ruler of Dubai is open to the public and has traditional gardens and gives an insight into the development of Dubai.
